Hello. I’m Rav. This is my… journal? Blog? I’m not sure yet.
I’ve been an avid tabletop RPG player for decades now, having picked up a copy of AD&D 2nd Edition back in the early ’90s from a friend. I’ve been hooked ever since. Dale, if you ever read this, thank you. I owe you more than you know.
I’ve also loved fantasy and sci-fi since before then, having read Tolkien, Terry Brooks, and more since middle-school. The TSR/Swords of the Coast novels also grace the shelves of my library. Again, I owe Dale for getting me hooked on the Dragonlance series. I also love all things sci-fi, especially cyberpunk.
Having played and now run games in D&D in its various incarnations, Pathfinder, and now GURPS, even running a long-standing homebrew set in the Viking age, I feel like I’m ready for something… more. Dezengarth will be the accumulation of everything I have learned about storytelling, both for players and for a more general audience. I’ll be writing, drawing, sculpting, and even 3D modeling as much as I can and sharing it here. I have a lot of ideas I want to explore and I really hope other people will enjoy what I have to share.
Just know, I’m not doing this in the hopes of getting rich. I have no delusions of grandeur here. I’m doing this because I love the genre, the craft, the creativity, and the artistry that comes with worldbuilding and telling stories. As I get older and find responsibilities taking up my time, I don’t have the opportunity to play like I used to, this gives me the opportunity to play in my own world and share it with you. And if it inspires you to play in it too, I would love to hear about it.
